Discord Rules

General Discord Rules 1. Be respectful Treat other members with respect even when you disagree with them. 2. No harassment Harassment, intimidation or repeatedly targeting another member is not allowed. 3. No hate speech Do not post hateful or discriminatory content. 4. No personal attacks Debate the topic rather than attacking the person. 5. No bullying Do not deliberately humiliate, threaten or intimidate another member. 6. Keep arguments civil Disagreements are fine. Personal arguments and prolonged drama are not. 7. Follow moderator instructions Members should follow reasonable requests made by moderators. 8. Don't encourage rule breaking Do not encourage other members to break the server's rules. 9. Don't evade punishments Do not use alternative accounts to avoid warnings, timeouts or bans. 10. Don't exploit loopholes Something doesn't automatically become acceptable because it isn't specifically mentioned in the rules.

11. Don't spam Avoid repeatedly sending messages, emojis, stickers or images. 12. Don't flood channels Give other members an opportunity to participate in conversations. 13. Avoid excessive caps Don't constantly send messages written entirely in capital letters. 14. Don't abuse mentions Avoid unnecessary @everyone, @here, role or member mentions. 15. Keep messages on topic Use each channel for its intended purpose. 16. Don't deliberately derail conversations Move unrelated conversations to a more appropriate channel. 17. Avoid excessive emoji spam A few reactions are fine. Filling a channel with repeated emojis isn't. 18. Don't repeatedly repost deleted messages If moderators remove something, don't continue posting it. 19. Use the server's main language If your community has a designated language, use it in public channels unless another channel says otherwise. 20. Don't start unnecessary drama Personal disputes should usually be taken to DMs or raised privately with moderators.

21. No NSFW content Don't share sexually explicit or inappropriate content in channels where it isn't permitted. 22. No graphic content Do not post excessive gore or disturbing imagery. 23. No malicious content Malware, viruses and intentionally harmful downloads are prohibited. 24. No phishing Do not send fake login pages or links designed to steal user information. 25. No scams Do not attempt to deceive members into sending money, items or account information. 26. Don't share stolen content Respect other people's work and intellectual property. 27. Don't share private information Never post somebody else's address, phone number or other private details. 28. Use spoiler tags Use spoiler formatting where appropriate for games, films or other content. 29. Keep avatars appropriate Profile pictures and server-specific avatars should follow the server's content rules. 30. Keep usernames appropriate Names designed to offend, impersonate or disrupt the community may be changed or removed.

31. No unsolicited advertising Don't advertise products, websites or communities without permission. 32. Don't advertise through DMs Do not privately message server members solely to advertise something. 33. Don't promote competing servers without permission Ask moderators before posting invitations to other communities. 34. Use promotion channels where available If the server provides a self-promotion channel, keep promotional content there. 35. Don't abuse partnerships Server partnerships should follow any rules established by the administration team.

36. Don't intentionally disrupt voice channels Avoid screaming, repeatedly disconnecting users or deliberately creating disruptive noise. 37. Don't play excessively loud audio Keep soundboards, microphones and music at a reasonable volume. 38. Don't constantly interrupt people Give everybody a chance to speak. 39. Don't record members without permission Respect people's privacy when using voice or video channels. 40. Follow channel-specific rules Some voice channels may have additional requirements.

41. No cheating Don't promote or distribute cheats, exploits or unfair tools where prohibited by the community. 42. No account stealing Phishing, credential theft and attempts to compromise player accounts are prohibited. 43. No intentional griefing Don't deliberately ruin another player's experience where the server prohibits it. 44. Keep game discussions in the correct channels Use dedicated game channels whenever available. 45. Don't spoil games deliberately Use spoiler tags or designated spoiler channels. 46. Follow tournament rules Events, competitions and giveaways may have additional rules.

47. Don't abuse staff permissions Moderator tools should only be used for legitimate moderation purposes. 48. Remain impartial Staff should avoid using moderation powers to settle personal disagreements. 49. Explain moderation actions where appropriate Members should understand why action has been taken against them whenever practical. 50. Protect private staff information Internal reports and moderation discussions should remain confidential where necessary. 51. Document serious moderation actions Warnings, bans and appeals should be recorded consistently. 52. Escalate serious issues Moderators should refer serious safety concerns to senior staff or Discord where appropriate. 53. Don't share moderation tools Staff accounts, bot credentials and administration access should never be shared with unauthorised people. 54. Treat members professionally Moderators set the example for the rest of the community.

If your server includes people outside a small private friend group, having written rules is usually worthwhile. Rules give both members and moderators a shared understanding of acceptable behaviour. Discord also specifically requires Community servers to have clearly posted rules and guidelines that explain what content and behaviour are permitted. Your server rules don't replace Discord's own policies. Everyone using Discord remains subject to Discord's Community Guidelines.
